Rainbow stains on stainless steel pans
Rainbow color on uncoated stainless can follow high heat. All-Clad recommends white vinegar and a soft cloth for this discoloration, followed by rinsing and drying.
Cleaning steps
- Let the uncoated stainless pan cool.
- Apply white vinegar with a soft cloth, following All-Clad’s instructions.
- Rinse and dry.
What to avoid
- Do not treat a warped base or damaged coating as a removable stain.

Let the pan cool. Distinguish a colored film from stuck food or mineral deposits, then use the maker’s method for that mark. Cleaning a stain does not repair a distorted base or damaged coating.
