What size sauté pan do I need?

Check both quarts and flat cooking room. Capacity matters for a saucy meal; width matters when food needs a single layer.

Size the cooking job

A liquid-portion estimate is not a count of steaks or chicken pieces. The table shows the real dimensions and lids. Covered oven cooking needs both pan and lid permission.

Estimate liquid portions from capacity using your own fill level, or measure a pan you already own. Height is not substituted for interior depth.

Questions before you choose

Does the advertised diameter describe the cooking surface?

Not necessarily. The rim and flat cooking surface are different measurements. A missing flat diameter stays unknown.

Are the serving estimates guaranteed?

No. They are arithmetic using your chosen volume and portion. Food shape, cooking method and working room change what fits.
