Cookware sets for five or more people
For a larger household or planned leftovers, start with the batch pot. These sets include at least a 6-quart stockpot or Dutch oven plus skillet, saucepan and sauté-pan jobs. The table uses six people as an adjustable planning example.
Start with the batch you actually cook
Lodge’s crowd-cooking guide suggests at least a quart of Dutch-oven capacity per person. We use a 6-quart minimum for this six-person example and require the four everyday cooking shapes. That is a selection rule, not a guarantee that six portions fit every recipe.
Leave room to stir and boil
The capacity divided by six includes both food and unused space. Change the fill and portion size in the serving calculator for soups or stews. Pasta water and foaming foods need the room called for by the recipe and pan instructions.
A big pot does not make a wide frying pan
Check the last column before cooking several portions of meat at once. These sets can include a large pot alongside a smaller skillet. For frying area, compare the separate family-size list or add one wide pan to cookware you already own.
