Good to know
Fluid ounces measure liquid volume. Ounces on a bag of chocolate chips or a block of cheese are weight, which a cup cannot convert without the ingredient.
The figures follow the US definitions in NIST Handbook 44: 3 teaspoons to a tablespoon, 16 tablespoons to a cup, 2 cups to a pint, 4 quarts to a gallon and 28.349523125 grams to an ounce by weight.
