What ruins a nonstick coating? Heat, tools and cleaning
Overheating, abrasive cleaning and unsuitable utensils can damage a coating. “Nonstick” alone does not establish allowed tools or temperatures.
Cleaning steps
- Identify the exact coating and its permitted heat and utensils.
- Let it cool before gentle washing.
- Use the maker’s residue-cleaning method if food has carbonized.
What to avoid
- Do not use abrasive cleaning as a way to restore a worn coating.
- Do not carry one collection’s heat or utensil permission to another.
Follow the surface-specific instruction
GreenPan favors soft utensils, gentle washing and cooling before cleaning. Cooking residue can cause sticking, but a cleaning method is not recoating. For damaged or peeling coating, ask the maker about the exact pan.
